Dear Rudy Selection Committee,
It is with my great privilege that I nominate Michael Thomas for the High School Football Rudy Award. I have had the opportunity to teach Michael in a school setting and coach him for three years in football. He is without a doubt the most inspirational student athlete I have met in my coaching career. He leads his peers on and off the field, not only through his athletic ability, but through his uncanny ability to be a role model for everyone

I have been a teammate of Mike's throughout two seasons of football and two seasons of track and field, in addition to that I have been Mike's friend for 3 years. Timothy J. Cullen (Michael's Second Cousin)
Michael Thomas is my second cousin, a fine young man, and a well deserved candidate for the "Rudy Award". My endorsement of his nomination is realized on the week leading up to the quarter finals where my own son, Michael Cullen, and his teammates at Loyola Academy will be hosting Lyons Township, Michael Thomas's team, in the quarter finals of the Illinois State Championship playoffs. We are all very proud to be part of Michael Thomas' family. Good luck on Saturday.

Coach
I coached Michael in 7th and 8th grade and was amazed at his athletic skills and leadership abilities. Back then, I was somewhat new to coaching and I thought the leadership abilities he had were because of his athletic abilities. What I've come to learn over the years is that he has the leadership abilities because of the person he is and has become. He came back to talk to the kids the next couple years about getting involved and staying in football. Every year we have some kids that aren't

Michael has faced hard challenges in his life and has met them with courage, dignity and optimism. I am proud of Michael for how he has handled these difficult situations and in always keeping a positive attitude. Michael worked very hard to get his life back to normal after his brain tumor surgery and was fortuante to do so. He has stayed involved in his school, athletics and community throughout it all! We are very proud of Michael and know that these experiences have made him stronger and wi
