I thought you should know a little more about our son Bobby's character building, and challenging experiences that took place throughout his early life on...
At age 7, a horrible tragedy occurred in our family, Bobby's sister Kristi age 5 and 9 months was accidentally killed by her GRANDFATHER by his truck in our backyard. Bobby was there and to this day we still do not know how much he witnessed...she died in my arms w/ all of us surrounding her. At that point, I knew I had a strong, and faith filled son, that could conquer any adversities he would be confronted with in the future. He not only needed to learn to deal w/ the loss of his sister but also had to learn how to forgive his grandfather for what had happened.
I'm sure he struggled throughout that year as we then learned he was diagnosed with a learning disability. He has been challenged with this disability all of his school years. He has overcome every obstacle that has jumped in front of him, because he has such a zest for life and the need to succeed!!
He volunteers his time on Sunday mornings as a coach for the "Challenger League" this is an organization that allows physically/mentally challenged individuals to play various sports in a league manner. He just loves being able to help all the people involved.
He also is a member of the Police Explorers, which is run through our local police department. He is also a member of various other clubs, including SADD and REBEL and sports teams, Football and Golf, through his high school, PINELANDS REGIONAL.
As you can see, Bobby has many varied interests but all in service for the betterment of mankind. He is a very caring, giving and dedicated individual and I would like to recognize my son, Bobby Keeney, for the "Rudy Award". Many others and myself feel he is an exemplary individual.
Bobby's educational pursuits at this time are geared toward teaching or law enforcement. He is planning on attending Ocean County College. There he will get the help needed to pursue either endeavor.
We use a lot of motivational quotes in our family, the most important being, "If it's to be, it's up to me!" and "Anything worth having is worth working for!" and "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!"
Please consider Bobby for this most honorable character award! He along with his family and friends would be most appreciative.
Thank you for this opportunity!
Warm Regards,
Bob and Kim Keeney
