My son Chris has been classified with moderate cognitive impairment. His disabilities include fine motor skill issues, difficulty with processing reading and math and an overall difficulty in learning retention, however these difficulties have never defined him.
He has always tried to reach beyond what was determined as possible for himself. Chris is interested in everything around him primarily sports. Coach Borden has given Chris an opportunity to be like all the other boys his age. Being part of this team has made him grow in ways I could never have imagined. He loves practice, games and being part of the team. He is expected to be at all practices and in the off-season lifts and conditions every day. Because of his disabilities Chris has always had difficulty making friends. He now has 90 friends who like him and have his back.
It is difficult to put in words the effect coach, the team and the entire football program at East Brunswick High has had on our family. We are truly blessed that Chris has been given the opportunity to be all he can be and more.
